NT Government Local Jobs Fund supports GenOffGrid Darwin base
The NT Government as a part of its business attraction program to create economic growth in the NT has entered into a $3M concessional business loan to attract WA based GenOffGrid to develop its support platform in Darwin.
Driven by the push for the NT government to achieve 70% renewable by 2030 and the regional call for solar/battery microgrids in the surrounding Island countries GenOffGrid has over the last 8 years developed a rapid deployable solar power station concept that reduces diesel fuel burn in off-grid applications by up to 94%. These systems are being deployed throughout Northern Australia on Cattle Stations, Eco Tourism, Agricultural projects, and Indigenous communities and there is seen to be further strong markets in the NT for the GenOffGrid solutions.
John Davidson CEO GenOffGrid said “We build remote solar power stations in Northern Australia and are very pleased to be supported by NT Government to assist us strengthen our investment and fast track our go to market strategy from our East Arm facility”.
GenOffGrid have also recently built a solar project under a Foreign Aid program in remote PNG and are establishing a logistics base in Lae with administration offices in Port Moresby.
John explained further “Darwin is strategic for us as we will have access to import and export facilities that will reduce our trucking cost substantially for inbound goods and give us a regional competitive for the neighboring island countries.”
Driven by these opportunities, and the planned growth throughout the region, Darwin will become a strategic Australian base for GenOffGrid operations thru the NT, QLD and the Pacific.
