GenOffGrid and Hides Gas Development Company join forces to bring solar batteries and microgrids to PNG

GenOffGrid's partnership with Hides Gas Development Company Ltd marks a significant step towards establishing remote solar power stations. This collaboration highlights our joint dedication to innovation and sustainability. As a special gesture of our commitment, we exchanged gifts that reflect our shared values and the spirit of collaboration.

On Monday 18 March 2024, John Davidson, Managing Director of GenOffGrid, and Libe Parindali, Chairman of Hides Gas Development Company Ltd (HGDC), formalised a strategic investment in GenOffGrid PNG Ltd. This partnership aims to construct solar power stations across remote areas of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Australia. It seeks to enhance energy access and promises to create employment opportunities and foster local capacity through training initiatives.

"We are excited to partner with HGDC," said John Davidson, citing GenOffGrid's successful track record in Northern Australia's remote solar initiatives. "Our goal is to support PNG's electrification program, aiming to increase access from 15% to 70% by 2030."

Libe Parindali highlighted the partnership's potential impact: "Together, we aim to provide sustainable energy solutions and long-term employment prospects in PNG, aligning closely with our development strategies."

As a symbol of goodwill, John Ellery, HGDC's Chief Financial Officer, presented GenOffGrid with a Bird of Paradise, emblematic of Papua New Guinea's cultural heritage and aspirations for a brighter future. In return, GenOffGrid gifted HGDC an iconic cockatoo sculpture, symbolising the need to balance progress with environmental conservation, a core value shared by both parties.
